A Safer Internet Begins With Us: Cybersecurity, Humanity, and Our Shared Future

A Personal Open Letter on Cybersecurity, Human Responsibility, and Our Shared Future

By Md Chhafrul Alam Khan | October 19, 2026

Protect Good Work. Respect People. Use Knowledge for Good.

A Personal Message to Everyone

To every person who builds, explores, protects, and contributes to our digital world,

I extend my sincere greetings, respect, and goodwill to you, wherever you may be.

I am writing this open letter not to accuse anyone, express frustration, or create division, but to share a personal reflection, a respectful request, and an invitation to contribute to something greater than ourselves.

Throughout my professional journey of more than two decades, working across technology, digital strategy, software development, and innovation, I have come to appreciate a principle that continues to guide my thinking:

The true value of knowledge is not measured solely by what it enables us to accomplish, but also by the positive difference we choose to make with it.

Technology has given humanity extraordinary possibilities. It has transformed how we learn, communicate, create, solve problems, and pursue opportunities.

Yet every technological advancement brings responsibility.

Behind every website, application, digital platform, or innovative idea, there is often a human story.

It may be a student developing a first project, an entrepreneur working to establish a livelihood, a researcher sharing valuable discoveries, or an independent developer investing countless hours into something that might improve another person’s life.

Every sincere effort deserves respect.

Every worthwhile idea deserves the opportunity to grow.

And every person deserves the chance to contribute without facing unnecessary harm or disruption.

When we protect someone’s honest work, we are protecting more than technology. We are respecting their dedication, aspirations, dignity, and possibilities for the future.

That is the spirit in which I share this message.

Why I Am Writing This Letter

Like many website owners and technology professionals, I have encountered automated requests and security-related activity involving the login and administrative areas of websites associated with my work.

Some of this activity may represent unauthorized attempts to access protected systems. Other requests may originate from legitimate automated services, monitoring tools, or infrastructure that security systems classify incorrectly.

Understanding the difference matters.

As part of my efforts to strengthen website protection, I have worked on NGInfinite WP Login Shield, a WordPress security solution designed to support safer authentication, monitor potentially suspicious activity, and protect legitimate website access.

I have also reviewed security-monitoring information from Jetpack Brute Force Protection on my personal WordPress website.

The numbers prompted me to reflect on a broader question:

How can we encourage people with valuable technical abilities to use those abilities not only for personal advancement, but also for the protection, progress, and well-being of others?

I could have chosen to publish a list of IP addresses identified by security software.

I have deliberately chosen not to do so.

An IP address does not necessarily identify an individual. A security alert does not establish someone’s intentions. And an automated classification should never be treated as conclusive evidence of wrongdoing.

I do not know the identities or motivations of everyone whose network activity appears in these records, and I have no wish to blame anyone without reliable evidence.

Instead, I believe there is a more meaningful opportunity here.

An opportunity to encourage responsibility.

An opportunity to promote ethical cybersecurity.

And, most importantly, an opportunity to invite more people to use their knowledge for good.

My Sincere and Respectful Request

To anyone who may be operating automated scripts, scanners, or other technologies that interact with websites without the owners’ knowledge or authorization:

I respectfully ask you to consider the people and aspirations represented by those websites.

Please remember that behind a digital system, there may be someone who has dedicated years of effort, personal resources, and determination to building something valuable.

Sometimes, that person may have substantial financial and technical resources.

Sometimes, they may be working independently with very little.

And sometimes, a single website or application may represent their most important opportunity to create a better future for themselves and their family.

Please allow their honest efforts the opportunity to grow.

If you have the knowledge to understand complex systems, identify technical weaknesses, or develop sophisticated tools, you possess abilities that can make a remarkable contribution to society.

I sincerely encourage you to direct those abilities toward constructive and authorized activities.

Explore cybersecurity through legitimate educational laboratories, systems you own, or programmes that explicitly permit security testing.

Help organizations understand how to protect themselves.

Share knowledge with people who are still learning.

Build solutions that make technology safer and more accessible.

If you encounter a genuine vulnerability, communicate responsibly with the affected organization rather than exploiting it.

Please use your knowledge to protect rather than exploit, create rather than disrupt, inspire rather than intimidate, and help others grow rather than make their journeys more difficult.

I offer this request with respect and goodwill.

My purpose is not to judge anyone’s character. It is to encourage all of us, including myself, to consider how our decisions influence the opportunities and well-being of others.

A Transparent View of Website Security

I believe responsible cybersecurity awareness should be supported by evidence, balanced interpretation, and respect for privacy.

For that reason, I am sharing a limited summary of security-monitoring information from websites associated with my work.

Jetpack Brute Force Protection: 10.1K Blocked Login Attempts

Jetpack Brute Force Protection dashboard showing 10.1K blocked login attempts on Md Chhafrul Alam Khan's WordPress website.
Jetpack Brute Force Protection dashboard displaying approximately 10,100 blocked login attempts on my personal WordPress website, as observed on October 18, 2026. This cumulative security-monitoring figure does not represent the number of unique individuals involved or establish that any unauthorized intrusion succeeded.

My personal WordPress website’s Jetpack security dashboard displayed approximately 10,100 blocked login attempts, as observed in October 2026.

This figure represents the cumulative count reported by Jetpack Brute Force Protection.

The dashboard screenshot does not establish the precise beginning of that cumulative reporting period or identify the individuals or systems behind the activity.

It should not be interpreted as evidence that 10,100 different people attempted to attack my website, nor does it indicate that a successful unauthorized intrusion occurred.

The figure demonstrates why automated login protection is an important consideration for website owners.

Jetpack provides further information about this feature in its official brute-force protection documentation.

NGInfinite WP Login Shield: A Separate Security-Monitoring Snapshot

I also reviewed an export from NGInfinite WP Login Shield covering one protected WordPress website.

Observation period: September 29–October 18, 2026 (UTC).

Security-monitoring indicatorRecorded value
Distinct source IP addresses264
Sum of plugin-recorded attempt counters663
Source records classified as blocked249
Source records classified as observed14
Source released after verified owner login1
Network-country codes represented55

These figures describe records and classifications generated by the security plugin.

They do not independently establish the number of malicious individuals, confirmed password-guessing attempts, successfully rejected network requests, or completed security breaches.

The Jetpack and NGInfinite WP Login Shield figures are produced by different monitoring systems, may cover different periods, and may contain overlapping activity. They should not be added together to produce a combined attack count.

Why I Am Not Publishing Individual IP Addresses

An IP address may represent shared infrastructure, a hosting provider, a proxy, a legitimate automated service, or multiple users.

Likewise, network-country information cannot reliably establish a person’s identity, nationality, intentions, or physical location.

Publishing a list of alleged offenders without sufficient evidence could expose innocent parties, create misunderstandings, or encourage unnecessary conflict.

My intention is to encourage responsible cybersecurity awareness—not public accusation, embarrassment, or fear.

For these reasons, I have chosen to share aggregate observations rather than individual source addresses, identifying fingerprints, or detailed security records.

The observations are preliminary and remain subject to further technical validation.

I believe transparency becomes more valuable when it is accompanied by accuracy, fairness, and respect for human dignity.

An Invitation to Use Knowledge for Humanity’s Good

I believe one of the greatest opportunities before humanity is to direct our growing technological capabilities toward shared progress.

Imagine a digital world where experienced developers willingly mentor beginners.

Imagine cybersecurity researchers helping small businesses, educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations protect their systems.

Imagine talented programmers creating accessible learning platforms for people who cannot afford expensive educational services.

Imagine artificial intelligence helping people overcome language barriers, access knowledge, improve productivity, and discover new opportunities.

Imagine technology supporting meaningful progress in education, healthcare, scientific research, environmental sustainability, and human well-being.

These possibilities are not beyond our imagination.

Many people around the world are already working toward them.

What we need is a shared commitment to make responsible innovation more inclusive, collaborative, and beneficial.

There are meaningful ways for everyone to participate:

  • Protect someone’s work. Share practical cybersecurity knowledge with individuals or organizations that may lack technical resources.
  • Help someone learn. Encourage students, beginners, and aspiring professionals who are trying to build their capabilities.
  • Create something useful. Develop accessible tools, educational resources, and solutions that address genuine human needs.
  • Respect digital boundaries. Seek authorization, safeguard privacy, and practise responsible vulnerability disclosure.
  • Support honest ambition. Offer constructive guidance and encouragement to people working toward worthwhile goals.

A positive contribution does not always require money, exceptional resources, or public recognition.

Sometimes, a thoughtful explanation can help someone overcome a challenge.

Sometimes, a responsible security report can protect an organization.

Sometimes, a few encouraging words can inspire someone to continue a journey they were close to abandoning.

When we use our abilities to create opportunities for others, our knowledge becomes more meaningful than any individual achievement.

Cybersecurity Should Protect People, Not Divide Them

I firmly believe that effective cybersecurity and human compassion should exist together.

Protecting digital systems is essential. Respecting people is equally important.

Responsible security requires clear boundaries, reliable safeguards, careful monitoring, and proportionate responses to genuine risks.

It also requires the humility to acknowledge that automated systems can make mistakes.

As someone who develops and manages digital products, I recognize my responsibility to protect legitimate access, safeguard information, maintain appropriate defenses, and investigate uncertain activity carefully.

Security controls should be designed to reduce abuse while preserving reasonable access and recovery options for authorized users.

Public accusations should never replace proper investigation.

And responsible defensive action should not become an excuse for unnecessary hostility.

Strong security is not defined by how aggressively we treat others. It is defined by how effectively we protect legitimate activity while respecting rights, privacy, and human dignity.

For website owners seeking practical guidance, the official WordPress documentation on brute-force attacks provides useful information about stronger authentication, login-rate limiting, software maintenance, and layered protection.

The OWASP Logging Cheat Sheet also offers guidance on security monitoring and responsible handling of log information.

To Ethical Security Researchers and Technology Enthusiasts

I have great respect for people who use their technical abilities to make digital environments safer.

Ethical cybersecurity research plays an important role in identifying vulnerabilities, improving systems, and helping organizations protect their users.

If you believe you have discovered a genuine security concern involving my websites or applications, I welcome a respectful initial communication.

You may reach me through my personal contact page.

Please begin with a concise, non-sensitive description of the concern. If further technical information is necessary, an appropriate private communication channel can be established.

Please do not send confidential information through public channels, access private data, disrupt services, or conduct additional testing without explicit prior written authorization and an agreed scope.

This invitation does not authorize vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, unauthorized access, or other security assessments. It does not establish a public bug-bounty programme or offer financial rewards.

I welcome responsible communication that helps resolve genuine concerns while protecting users, systems, and the broader community.

Constructive collaboration is always more valuable than unnecessary confrontation.

My Vision: A Future Built on Knowledge, Compassion, and Cooperation

When I think about the future, I do not measure human progress solely by faster computers, increasingly sophisticated artificial intelligence, larger businesses, or remarkable scientific achievements.

I think about what these achievements can make possible for people.

I imagine a future where children can access meaningful education regardless of their economic circumstances.

Where language differences no longer prevent people from learning from one another.

Where technological innovation creates opportunities for those who have previously been excluded.

Where individuals can pursue their ambitions without unnecessary barriers.

Where scientific discoveries improve lives, responsible businesses create lasting value, and digital technologies strengthen communities.

Where knowledge is shared generously, honest work is respected, and progress is evaluated not only by what we gain individually, but also by what we make possible for others.

My aspirations extend beyond immediate professional goals.

I hope for a world where dignity, safety, opportunity, kindness, and peace become increasingly accessible to everyone.

And, in the limitless language of human imagination, I envision something even greater:

A happier world, a more peaceful universe, and a future reaching toward the possibilities of a multiverse and infiniteverse—where knowledge, creativity, compassion, and cooperation continually expand what life can become.

I recognize that such aspirations are immense.

But extraordinary achievements have always begun with someone’s willingness to imagine possibilities beyond the familiar.

We may not be able to transform the entire world through a single decision.

We can, however, make someone’s world better through one act of kindness, one responsible choice, one meaningful invention, or one opportunity created.

The future is shaped not only by the technologies we develop, but also by the values we bring to their development and the people we choose to help along the way.

This is why I believe technological responsibility is ultimately a human responsibility.

You Are Invited to Be Part of This Vision

If you have reached this part of my letter, I sincerely appreciate your time and consideration.

I do not ask you to agree with every perspective I have expressed.

I do not ask you to join an organization, promote a product, or support my personal ambitions.

My invitation is much simpler.

Please consider how your knowledge, creativity, experience, and abilities might make a positive difference in another person’s life.

If you can help a beginner understand something difficult, please consider helping.

If you can protect an honest project, please help protect it.

If you can create a useful solution, please consider sharing it.

If you can encourage someone who is struggling, please offer that encouragement.

And if you possess advanced technical abilities, please consider how those abilities might contribute to a safer, more accessible, and more inclusive digital world.

You do not need to know me personally.

We may live in different countries, speak different languages, belong to different generations, or approach challenges from different perspectives.

We may never have the opportunity to meet.

Yet we can still share a meaningful purpose.

If you believe that knowledge should help people, that honest effort deserves respect, and that progress should create opportunities rather than unnecessary obstacles, then we already share an important vision for the future.

You are warmly invited to contribute to that vision in whatever ethical, constructive, and meaningful way you can.

Not necessarily as a member of my organization or professional network, but as a fellow human being who recognizes the value of helping others.

There is room for everyone who wishes to contribute with sincerity and goodwill.

And there is always an opportunity to begin.

A Few Questions Worth Reflecting On

Can technology become more powerful while also becoming more humane?

I believe it can, provided we make responsibility, accessibility, fairness, and human well-being central to how we design and use it.

Technological progress should not require us to abandon compassion.

Is cybersecurity only about preventing unauthorized access?

No. It is also about protecting trust, privacy, continuity, legitimate access, and the people who depend on digital systems.

Effective cybersecurity should help individuals and organizations pursue their goals with greater confidence.

Can one person’s knowledge genuinely make a difference?

Absolutely.

A single helpful explanation, responsibly reported vulnerability, accessible learning resource, or thoughtfully designed application can create opportunities that extend far beyond its original purpose.

What is the central message of this open letter?

That we should respect digital boundaries, protect honest work, use technical abilities responsibly, and contribute to a future in which more people can learn, create, succeed, and live with dignity.

Our knowledge becomes most valuable when it helps others move forward.

My Closing Message to Humanity

I began this letter by reflecting on website security and the responsibilities associated with technology.

But the message I truly wish to share reaches far beyond cybersecurity.

It is about respecting human effort.

It is about using our abilities responsibly.

It is about creating opportunities rather than unnecessary obstacles.

And it is about recognizing that our greatest achievements become more meaningful when they contribute positively to the lives of others.

Knowledge gives us the power to change things. Wisdom helps us choose what is worth changing. Humanity gives that change its purpose.

To everyone who uses their talents to educate, protect, innovate, create, and uplift others, I offer my sincere appreciation.

To anyone considering a more constructive direction for their technical abilities, I extend a respectful and encouraging invitation.

And to every person working patiently toward an honest and meaningful dream, I wish you strength, opportunity, encouragement, and success.

May we continue to learn from one another.

May our innovations create more opportunities than obstacles.

May our knowledge be guided by wisdom.

May our ambitions be accompanied by compassion.

May our differences become opportunities for understanding rather than reasons for division.

And may our collective efforts help make this world—and the wider future we dare to imagine—a happier, safer, kinder, more inclusive, and more peaceful place for all.

Let us protect what is good, improve what is possible, and create a future in which more people can flourish.

Because the greatest promise of technology is not simply what it can do, but what we can accomplish together when we use it for good.

With sincere respect, appreciation, goodwill, and enduring hope for humanity,

Md Chhafrul Alam Khan
