FORMAT GUIDE

Why convert GIF to JPEG?

A JPEG still is a practical replacement when the receiving application does not accept GIF.

  • Creating a JPEG preview for an animated GIF.
  • Submitting a still image to a JPEG-only form.
  • Making a simple static cover image.

UNDERSTAND YOUR FILES

GIF vs. JPEG: what changes?

Input · GIF

A palette-based image format that can contain animation. These conversion tools export one still frame.

Output · JPEG

A widely supported photographic format. JPEG uses lossy compression and cannot represent transparency.

A JPEG still is a practical replacement when the receiving application does not accept GIF. Choosing an output format changes how another app reads the file; it does not restore detail missing from your source.

Which settings should you choose?

Try Balanced (88%) first, inspect the preview, then switch to Compact for a smaller result or Detailed for greater fidelity. These are export quality settings, not promises of a particular compression ratio.

Your files and privacy

Your selected file is converted on your device. You can download the new file while keeping the original unchanged.

Some formats work differently across browsers and devices. Check the converted result before using it for important work. Advertising and other optional website services may have separate privacy practices.

Format compatibility and limitations

Animation is not preserved. Only the first displayed GIF frame is used, and transparent pixels become white.

Actual output behavior depends on the input file, your browser, device resources and the converter engine. Check important files before sharing or replacing them.

JPG and JPEG are the same image format. This tool accepts .jpg and .jpeg input and uses .jpg for exports.

HELP & ANSWERS

GIF to JPEG questions

Does GIF to JPEG keep motion?

No. Only the first displayed frame is exported.

Can I choose a later animation frame?

Not in this version; it captures the first displayed frame.

What happens to transparent pixels?

They are flattened onto white because JPEG has no alpha channel.
