JPEG vs. PBM: what changes?
A widely supported photographic format. JPEG uses lossy compression and cannot represent transparency.
PBM is the Netpbm black-and-white bitmap format.
PBM stores black-and-white pixels and discards grayscale and color information. Choosing an output format changes how another app reads the file; it does not restore detail missing from your source.
Which settings should you choose?
Start with Original dimensions to retain the decoded pixel size. Select a maximum edge only when you need a smaller output image.
Your files and privacy
Your selected file is converted on your device. You can download the new file while keeping the original unchanged.
Some formats work differently across browsers and devices. Check the converted result before using it for important work. Advertising and other optional website services may have separate privacy practices.

No. Your file stays on your device while it is converted, and you download the new image when it is ready.
Does changing formats improve the original quality?
No. Re-encoding may lose detail, and cannot restore information that the source file no longer contains.
What is different about pbm output?
PBM output thresholds pixels to black and white; shades and colors are lost.
